Donate - Recycle - Reuse - Reclaim Your Space!

Recycle

It's inevidible when you start organizing your home or office that you're doing to encounter items that you don't need any longer. I'm a strong proponent of recycling and donating what you can so that other people can benefit, and our planet is not harmed, by your organizing activites. Here are some valuable resources in the northern Virginia area that will happily accept your gently used clothing and household items. Be sure to check on tax deductibility!

Books I Would Read . . . Again!

There are many excellent books and DVDs on the market that address the topic of organizing. There are three that have made such an impression on me that I would happily read them again...in fact, I have!

Organizing Plain & Simple

Organizing Plain and Simple
A Ready Reference Guide with Hundreds of Solutions to Your Everyday Clutter Challenges by Donna Smallin

Despite the long title, this is a very "plain and simple" ready reference covering a lot of topics, sound advice and cost-saving/time-saving tips. I like it because you don't have to do all your organization at once - you can do it at your own pace. This book is very easy to read.

It is available at Amazon.com.

The Organizing Sourcebook

The Organizing Sourcebook:
Nine Strategies for Simplifying Your Life by Kathy Wadill

This book provides excellent strategies, illustrated with wonderful real-life stories, that will inspire you - but not overwhelm you! It is written with humor and heart.

It is also available at Amazon.com.

Time Management from the Inside

Time Management from the Inside Out (Second Edition)
The Foolproof System for Taking Control of Your Schedule - and Your Life by Julie Morgenstern

I enjoyed watching the DVD that comes with this book and often use it as a source for clients struggling with time and schedule issues. The author makes time tangible and puts it into perspective. She makes you look at goal-setting in a completely different way. In fact, she makes you look at your life in a different way! Highly recommended.
